Ethical Standards

I am a chartered psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a registered counsellor with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am also a fully registered teacher of secondary and further education with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). I fully adhere to the ethical standards of these professional bodies and I am fully insured. I am also registered with the Information Commission and provide secure data confidentiality.

Supervision and Personal Therapy

I attend counselling supervision sessions with a fully registered supervising counsellor to ensure that I maintain the highest standard of care. My supervising counsellor is also bound by the ethical  standards of confidentiality and is responsible to their professional body to maintain these standards. Although some aspects of discussion points arising in client therapy sessions may be discussed with my supervisor, no names or identifiable aspects of my clients are shared. My counselling supervision is intended as a regular check on my professionalism and to ensure that I am providing my clients with the best possible care.

 Complaints

If, for any reason, you feel that you have not received the professional care that you expect, then you are encouraged to voice your concerns immediately. It is hoped that we will have developed a professional and therapeutic relationship in which you feel safe and confident enough to do so with me directly, either in person or in writing. However, if you feel that voicing your concerns directly is not an option, then you are encouraged to report your concerns to one of the professional bodies of which I am a member. The contact details for the professional bodies are available by clicking on one of the regulating body symbols on this page.
